As with any breed of dogs, some Newfs experience certain health problems. Several of these problems exists within the Newfoundland gene pool. Most responsible breeders screen potential breeding stock for these disorders, however, no amount of genetic testing is absolutely foolproof, and perfectly sound parents can produce a puppy with a health problem.

When you are selecting a puppy, please be sure to ask the breeder what health problems their stock has been screened for, and what type of health guarantee is in their contract.

2. How much did it consume?
3. How much does the animal weigh?
4. What is your credit card number (there is a $30 charge for this service)
The vet will give you instructions and a case number, keep this number because it allows you or your personal vet to call with follow up questions for free.
